In 2016, we asked students to submit not only translations, but translations of their own words. MoWo2016 invited 'postcards' composed of an image along with a short message in two languages. These postcards were envisaged as a response to the idea of "One Planet, One Humanity" and "Postcards from New Zealand to the World".
We received translations between English and Russian, French and English, English and German, and English and Spanish. On Tuesday, 7 December, in combination with a 'Celebration of Creative Translation' hosted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce, we presented awards for the most moving and best-composed postcards in the historic Hunter Council Chamber. Alva Feldmeier, Danielle Cooper, Max Hall, and Angelina Rolston (absent) received Distinguished awards.
