Thucidides in Real Time
It's not surprising that this boy dies forty times in a single day, nor that after dying by bullet, blade or bomb he gets up to pee, walks through the kitchen to get a bite to eat and returns to sit in front of the screen. But you have to admit that he takes death seriously. therefore he tries to accumulate lives, conscious of the score that keeps changing in the corner of the screen. In the streets he leaves behind corpses, car bombs, destroyed buildings. But at the push of a button all of this dissolves into a luminous powder like in a rewind of the breath of God. In front of the screen he lives his forty deaths. Lazarus and the nine lives of a cat are a total joke. In the infinite deaths of this boy there are no victims, only a fearsome threat: the great nothingness of game over, the feeling of failure, the overwhelming rage and the desire for vengeance, that, as Thucydides described two and a half thousand years ago, increases the atrocities. With all his faces or with the same face hardened this boy takes part in a war that occurs in real time and is divided into levels: the blood on the hands of Cain, the domestic dispute that led to the devastating Peloponnesian war, the tanks in Babylon, the guided missiles heading towards this room where this boy dissolves into the Great Nothingness. |

This Way Up
From an idea by Jerry Seinfeld Life goes in boxes. one looks around and quickly realizes that everything has its package: from the domestic appliances that appear in every corner of the house to those diminutive little boxes that promise eternal love. We live in boxes. house, metro, elevator, office. these are our daily boxes. each box imposes its dimensions on us and determines our habits. we go out and return laden with packages. "what did you bring, darling?" and we already know the answer. Life is spent in search of the ideal box. until the day we are left with the perfect box, the definitive package made to measure. the only inconvenience is that there aren't any scissors strong enough to cut you out because you are trapped inside. |
